About
The Catherine Morar Story
My name is Catherine Morar. I was diagnosed as gluten intolerant at 12 years of age. At the time this was not a common diagnosis and finding groceries and places to eat was challenging in Brisbane, to say the least!
But it didn’t stop there. Soon after, my Dad, who was also diagnosed with gluten intolerance. But it got even worse. My brother too was diagnosed with the condition…you can say it runs in the family.
With three people in the family suffering from the condition it became a tireless search to find shops, restaurants, specialist medical practitioners and other related information to help us live a healthy life.
Besides my own family, some of my friends were also gluten intolerant. I realised there must be thousands of people in Brisbane in the same condition as us and were also seeking the same information.
The good thing is that over the years, there’s been a lot more awareness about gluten intolerance and Coeliac disease. Nowadays there’s an overwhelming amount of information scattered all over the internet about everything gluten-free.
Which means you would need to spend hours searching for the right information.
This inspired me to start Gluten Free in Brisbane, a website that provides lots of information about all aspects of being gluten-free in Brisbane!
